Sen. Mary Kay Papen: Keep our public lands in public hands

We all care about the education of our children, but selling off New Mexico's public lands is NOT the way to do it. Our public lands are our heritage and we need to protect them with everything we've got. 

Please let Senator Mary Kay Papen know that she should pull (withdraw) her bill SB 182 before it goes to committee on Wednesday.

Senator Mary Kay Papen (D-Doña Ana Co.) -- 

Selling off our public lands is not the way to improve our public education. I'm writing to ask you to withdraw SB182.

Land Commissioner Dunn's proposal to transfer federal lands to state hands for oil and gas development sells our a treasured American heritage while creating a huge hole in the federal budget.  

New Mexico's permanent fund already receives royalty payments from natural resource development on federal lands in New Mexico. It's time to invest our permanent fund resources in education instead.
