This summer, the Law Enforcement Academy Board changed the rules to prevent public oversight and comment on law enforcement training.

Even after national outrage over an officer shooting at a mom and children in a minivan in Taos, and DOJ investigations into APD use of force, the board endorsed new curriculum to decrease law enforcement training and scrap responsible, reactive use-of-force training for a "shoot first" program that makes us all less safe.

New Mexico needs responsible, professional law enforcement training, not this.

I urge you to hold our law enforcement officers to the highest standards and give them the training they deserve to serve us well.

Subject: Will you help me stop "Shoot First" training for New Mexico cops?
I just signed this petition to stop New Mexico's Law Enforcement Academy from shortening police training and teaching a new "Shoot First" policy.

Governor Martinez appoints the majority of the board and we need her to reverse this policy and give our officer the training they deserve.
